Member Information

How to Become a Member

A young woman who is particularly fitted by tradition, family background, and personal attainment to be a leader in her community who is not less than twenty-five (25), and who has been a resident of this community a minimum of one (1) year immediately prior to March 1, may be considered eligible for membership.

 

At the January meeting, the complete list of proposed applicants shall be read to the OSL membership; and no further names shall be considered by the Admissions Committee in selecting the Provisional members for that year.

 

Only those applicants who receive a two-thirds (2/3) vote of approval by the Admissions Committee shall be considered eligible for invitation to membership.

 

Immediately preceding the February meeting, the Admissions Committee, by printed invitations, shall invite to approved members to Provisional membership.

 

At the March meeting, the Admissions Committee shall announce the names of the newly elected Provisional members.

 

What is Expected Once You Become a Member

Newly elected Provisional members shall pay a $10 initiation fee. Dues after that point are $25 per year to include Active, Intermittent Professionals, Semi-Active and Sustaining Members.

 

Active members must attend seven of the nine regular monthly meetings, perform a minimum of 60 hours of service, with a minimum of 20 hours in service activities, excluding the major fund raising project, attend all OSL functions if possible, and contribute to all fund raising projects by purchase of tickets and working the event. 

 

Active members must remain a member in good standing for seven years before they may change their status to semi-active or sustaining.
